Shattuck takes league lead with sweep over Marquette
FAIRIBAULT, Minn. – The Shattuck St. Mary’s Sabres were finally able to pull away with a sweep this weekend as they topped the Marquette Electricians 4-0 Saturday night and 3-2 Sunday.
10 points earns T.B.'s Skirving October Player of the Month
THUNDER BAY, Ont. – Todd Skirving of the Thunder Bay Kings had one heck of a month. Six straight games with a point, including three multi-point games puts the 6-foot-1 forward on top of the Northern Lakes Hockey League scoring chart, and earned the 17-year-old NLHL Player of the Month for the month of October.
MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Capital Centre Pride, who plays out of Lansing, Mich., have mowed down the competition this season, jumping out to a 5-0-1 record while outscoring opponents 33-11 early in the Northern Lakes Hockey League season. This weekend the coaches took note as the Pride was voted No. 1 in the latest NLHL Coach’s Poll, released today.
Faribault – The Capital Centre Pride (3-0-1) remained undefeated by taking three of a possible four points in a two-game series at Shattuck St. Mary’s Saturday, while the Thunder Bay Kings (1-1-0) and Ojibwa Eagles (1-1-1) split a high-scoring weekend in the first Northern Lakes Hockey League games played in Canada.
Four unbeaten teams battle in NLHL action this weekend
THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Thunder Bay Kings (0-0-0) will be making their Northern Lakes Hockey League debut today as they host the Ojibwa Eagles (0-0-1) for a two-game series at Fort William First Nation Arena in Thunder Bay, the first international game in league history.
The Shattuck St. Mary’s Sabres were able to stay undefeated after hosting their first Northern Lakes Hockey League games in team history, tying the Soo Indians 2-2 Saturday night before scoring three unanswered goals to pull away with the Sunday morning win, 5-2.
FARIBAULT, Minn. – After a week off, Shattuck (1-0-2) and the Soo (0-3-1) are going right back at it to finish off their Northern Lakes Hockey League season series, starting with a 7 p.m. game between the two teams Saturday night.
LANSING, Mich. – Brandon Carney’s four assists and one goal in the Capital Centre Pride’s two-game sweep over the Soo Indians earned the Battle Creek, Mich.-native September’s Northern Lakes Hockey League Player of the Month award.
