Dallas Mclaughlin earns NLHL player of month
Mclaughlin, a 5-foot-7 forward for the Electricians, put up five points, including the game winner for the Electricians during the Dec. 19 victory.
“Through his hard work and intensity Dallas has caused things to happen and capitalized on the opportunities that that work created,” Electricians coach Mike Dagenais said. “Even though he isn’t the biggest or tallest player on the ice, most games he plays like he is.”
Mclaughlin added an assist in the ‘Tros 2-1 loss to the Indians on Dec. 12 before having his second multi-point game of the year, including his game winner, against the Eagles. He finished the month off with Marquette’s first goal of the game on the Eagles and Electricians series finale on Dec. 20.
“He has adapted well to the Midget AAA level coming from high school hockey,” Dagenais said. “He’s been a key player from the beginning of the.
“With less than a winning season Dallas has maintained a positive attitude and held an optimistic view while showing it through his play.”
Mclaughlin’s performances have yielded him nine goals and 12 points in 14 games this season, including four power-play goals, a mark that leads the NLHL.
“We can place him at any of the forward positions on the power play and know that he can perform there,” Dagenais said.
Mclaughlin’s hard work yielded him two goals this weekend against the NLHL’s leading team, the Capital Centre Pride, and Dagenais is confident his production will keep up.
“Intensity and emotion with a good strong work ethic combine to make Dallas a good hockey player,” he said.
The Electricians were swept this weekend by the Capital Centre Pride. They’ll return to action on Jan. 23 with a two-game series with the Shattuck St. Mary’s Sabres.
